My name is Vicky Claerbout and I am a Clinical Psychology student at the University of Ghent. Procrastinating is what I do best, although I like to think that I am not too bad at writing either.
In 2011, I finished writing my very first novel: “Absolute Contamination” and I hope for there to be many more in the future. Now that this novel is finished, I will slowly begin to look into publishing. I haven’t decided yet whether or not I will self-publish or if I want to try the more traditional way. But, one way or another, people will be able to purchase my story!
All my life I have enjoyed reading; to me, reading was a way to experience all those interesting and exciting events my personal life did not contain. My theory as to why I only discovered my love for writing less than two years ago is that by reading so much – literally one book after the other - I didn’t give myself the time to come up with anything creative. I always had the most vivid and random dreams though, but it is only now that I finally learned to do something with them.
When I’m not reading or writing, which I both seem to be doing a lot, I love to go to the cinema or concerts. There is nothing better than a good live concert of one of the bands you love, and over the past few years, I’ve seen my fair share of bands.
I love lists, which you probably will notice in my blogging as well. I’m a list freak, you could say, as I have lists of (almost) everything; lists of books I’ve read, songs I love, books I plan to read, bands I’ve seen live, Cds I own, things to do, movies that I’ve seen, release dates of books, cd’s and/or movies, tasks to do, things to buy...
But, to give a short description of myself, I’d say: I’m a person with too much free time on my hands, yet, I’m always busy. I love reading, writing, listening to music, going to the movies and concerts. I love quotes, sarcasm, taking things literally – much to the annoyance of other people. In a crowd, I’m more of a listener than a speaker. I don’t think of myself as a ‘dreamer’ in the figurative sense, but I do hope to have at least one of my books published one day.
